Some Things Every Man Wants Or Thinks He Wants

It doesn't matter whether he's an accountant or a cowboy, there are some things every man wants. Whether he'll ever use them or not is another matter, but if he doesn't have them, he wants them. What are these things and why do men want them.

There are a few men who are lucky enough to be able to afford anything their hearts desire. If they can't decide between two luxury items, they simply buy them both. When they're out looking for a new car and can't decide whether to buy a sports car or a Mercedes, they just get one of each. Even if he lives in Iowa, a rich man will buy a yacht.

What are luxury goods, after all, other than things men want? They certainly don't need them all. All these things are is fantasy fulfillment for men who can afford them. What the rich do with their toys is interesting and says something about us all. Think about how few luxury yachts ever sail the open seas or how many fast sports cars ever go over the speed limit.

It's the same for all of us, rich or not so rich. Maybe only one dreadnought acoustic guitar out of a dozen ever gets to be played as it deserves to be played. The rest of them spend most of their time in the closet. Owning and playing a fine guitar is just about every man's dream. All men have their inner rock star who wants to get out.

If you live in the city, you don't really need to own a mountain bike unless you happen to be a bicycle courier. Just because the average city rider will only need a few out of the twenty four gears you can get on a Schwinn mountain bike doesn't mean he doesn't want them all. At least he's got them and perhaps the cool looking bike will motivate him to get out and get some exercise.

A homelite chainsaw is another example. Chainsaws are great timesavers when you need them. But do you need a chainsaw to cut a half inch diameter branch off a tree? It doesn't matter. Men love the sound, the feel and the power of a chainsaw. Give a man an excuse to buy one and he will.

We all work hard for a living. Sometimes, we just need to throw practicality out the window and buy something our 'inner man' has been wanting for years. If it spends most of its time in the closet or the garage, so be it. Once in awhile, it's just nice to know it's there for us when we want it.
