I love watching ballroom dancing and would love to do it but i don't know where to start?

I always watch it on TV and i think it would be cool to learn how to dance like that. I wanna start. I am only in highschool and i have never had any sort of dance class.
where should i start?
should i just take some normal dance classes and then later try ballroom dancing?

Ballroom is "normal dancing!" Here's the thing, ballroom is offered at all levels, from complete beginners and up. Personally, I would avoid the chain studios (Arthur Murray, Fred Astaire, etc). Check in you community to see if there is a ballroom dance society. If they don't offer classes, they'll be able to point you in the right direction. Failing that, check with community rec centres to see what they're offering. Start small (and inexpensive) and work your way up.

Go for it!!!

Most ballroom studios have a beginner package so you can try it and see if you like the dancing and the studio, without breaking the bank. Just try one, or several. Introductory lessons are aimed at social dancing, not the stuff you see on TV, but that's both useful and appropriate, giving you a foundation on which to build. As you advance, you'll learn the stuff you see on the tube.
