First ballroom dancing class tonight and not sure what is apporpriate to wear? any ideas for my wife and I?

Entry level class. My wife as danced before and is pretty good. Me on the other hand, well lets just say I have never danced before. If it were up to me I would show up in basketball shorts and tee but Im guessing that isnt the best choice.

Wear something comfortable that you can move around in. Jeans can be too heavy & constricting, but if you have some loose-ish slacks, those would be good. I recommend something breathable, like a cotton fabric, and nothing too heavy. If you have a nice, plain t-shirt, that is perfectly acceptable; otherwise, wear another light, cotton shirt (you may want to stick an undershirt or t-shirt underneath it, though).

Dancing is a very physical activity, and some men sweat a great deal (you may not do as much at your very first class, but it's better to be prepared!). Still, you should dress a little more respectfully than if you were going to play basketball.

The most important thing is to wear good shoes. Look through your closet for a dress shoe with a smooth sole. You want something with some support and, if possible, a leather sole–NOT sneakers! Rubber soles can "stick" to the floor and make it more difficult to move & turn.

Enjoy yourself! Dancing can be a lot of fun, and it is a wonderful way for couples to spend time together.
