The Big Trail: Mythical Western might appear creaky to some watchers, although it continues to be considered one of the most impressive early talkies. John Wayne was "found" for featuring role, and already shows his laidback charm. Cast includes John Wayne, Marguerite Churchill, El Brendel, Tully Marshall, Tyrone Power, Sr., David Rollins, and Ian Keith. (110 minutes, 1930)

No Man of Her Own: Turgid drama based on Cornell Woolrich story of Stanwyck presuming another's identity, later being blackmailed by ex-boyfriend. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, John Lund, Jane Cowl, Phyllis Thaxter, and Richard Denning. (98 minutes, 1950)

Reckless: It's Christmas Eve, and a ditsy, seemingly cheerful spouse (Farrow) is informed by her abruptly regretful spouse that he has taken out a contract on her life. A conceivably smart spoof of middle-style domestic relationships and fake holiday praise swiftly descends into a roaming, completely absurd comedy of the ridiculous. Cast includes Mia Farrow, Scott Glenn, Mary-Louise Parker, Tony Goldwyn, Stephen Dorff, Eileen Brennan, and Giancarlo Esposito. (92 minutes, 1995)

The Jackpot: Un-contemporary, little comedy, uplifted by megastars. Stewart is the winner of a stereo competition although couldnt pay the levies on the winnings. Cast includes James Stewart, Barbara Hale, James Gleason, Fred Clark, and Natalie Wood. (87 minutes, 1960)

Strange Interlude: Talky Eugene O'Neill play gets to be marathon of central opinions exposed only to spectators in journal of Gable, Shearer. It is about growing old without settling their complications. This is a preoccupying film, with Shearer at her brilliant best. Cast includes Norma Shearer, Clark Gable, Might Robson, Maureen O'Sullivan, Robert Youthful, Ralph Morgan, Henry B. Walthall, and Alexander Kirkland. (110 minutes, 1932)

PCV: Partisan correctness is out of sorts at Port Chester University which leads to the unavoidable conflict between a cadre of excessively militant scholar groups and a college girl group who revel in their political incorrectness. Cast includes Jeremy Piven, Chris Youthful, David Spade, Megan Ward, Jon Favreau, Jessica Walter, Sarah Spark, Jake Busey, and George Clinton. (80 minutes, 1994)

Lust for Life: This is a bright adaptation of Irving Rock's biography of painter Van Gogh, vividly depicting his anguished life. Quinn captured a well-warranted 'Oscar for his performance as painter-Guy Gauguin, in this attractive color production. Cast includes Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn, James Donald, Pamela Brown, Everett Sloane, Niall MacGinnis, Noel Purcell, Henry Daniell, Jill Bennett, Lionel Jeffries, and Eric Pohlmann. (122 minutes, 1956)

Bullet for a Badman: Another reprisal story engaging an outlaw, his ex-spouse, and the man who married her. Cast includes Audie Murphy, Darren McGavin, Ruta Lee, Bypass Homeier, George Tobias, and Bob Steele. (80 minutes, 1964)

Stairway to Heaven: Powell and Pressburger manage to straddle actuality and fantasy in a most disarming approach in this irregular tale of a guide in WW2 who claims he was unintentionally selected to die, and should now plead for his life in a Heavenly court. Cast includes David Niven, Kim Hunter, Raymond Massey, Roger Livesey, Robert Coote, Marius Goring, and Richard Attenborough. (104 minutes, 1946)

Essentials of Painting with Smoke

Most of us have dabbled in painting a few times in our lives. One of the most important ideas that can guide us through this relaxing hobby has to do with choosing the medium and the technique with which you want to indulge in this activity. Traditionally, painting involves a canvas or any other flat surface upon which the image will be painted; it also involves the right medium that shall be used to paint the image. Watercolors, acrylics, and charcoal are among the most popular media that are used.

Smoke painting is ideal for those who are looking for something more daring. The artistic method being referred to is fumage. Working with smoke that came from candles so that one could create images is an artistic technique that was first used by Wolfgang Paalen. Chances are good that you will be simply smitten by the results of your efforts. If you are intrigued by such a concept and want to try out this technique for an upcoming project, here are a few simple steps to help you learn how to paint with smoke.

Visualize your design in your thoughts. Visualization is the initial step to starting all creative projects. Generally speaking, not every person possess the skill to picture what they want to bring to life in their minds. Thus, it is a good idea to visualize the overall picture that you want to achieve by manually sketching the design or by using a form of computer software that will allow you to produce a rough sketch. Given the nature of the medium, keep your designs simple and/or abstract (e.g., simple shapes, human form).

Assemble your chosen materials. You might consider tools like candles or a kerosene lamp to create minimal smoke for your project. Because this project is for beginners, candles of different thicknesses and wick lengths are ideal. This is because longer wicks produce smoother patterns, while shorter ones produce solid and dark shades and forms. Using these will allow you to come up with varied images with different intensities or shading. Apart from the canvas and candles that you will require, you must also have gear for protection of your eyes and hands.

Starting the process. Do not ever begin the painting process in a place where there is a risk of items burning. You must prop up your canvas so that will allow you to easily move the the canvas about as you work. You might need to paint from the side or beneath the canvas. The next step is to begin painting by using one of your candles to apply the shading. In doing so, keep in mind that the angle and speed with which the candle flame is dragged across or beneath the surface can help produce different shades. It is a good idea to try some strokes on another canvas before you begin, especially if you are uncertain about your skills. Keep in mind that you are encouraged to be as creative as possible and thus, you might decide to experiment with different ways to produce images using fumage techniques.

Putting on the finishing touches. When you are finished, do not overlook the need to spray fixative on the finished work. You will find that this helps to preserve your design.

The Original Gretsch 6120 and Its Rebirth

In 1954 Chet Atkins put down his D'Angelico and made a commitment to Gretsch brand guitars. So came about the birth of the Gretsch 6120. The original 6120s sold for a whopping three-hundred-eighty-five dollars. The guitar was a runaway success. Thirty years later players world wide still praise the 6120 as one of the best.

The Gretsch 6120 became known for its Western Orange color, but inexplicably, it was manufactured in red in 1957. As time has gone by, the Gretsch 6120 has slowly been transformed from a western-style guitar to a more conventional, unadorned instrument. A couple of major cosmetic changes were made in 1957 in addtion to the bright red color the arrow embellishments on the knobs were replaced with the "G" logo. The same year the rather overwhelming "G" brand was take off of the right side of the guitar's body much to the relief of finicky collectors.

In 1959 a catalog advertisement promoted the 6120s features:

This Chet Atkins guitar is the favorite one ever manufactured. The body style is a slimmed down sixteen inc cutaway. The tailpiece and tremolo are by Bigsby. It's equipped with dual Gretsch FilterTron electronic heads. The Actionflo neck is an adjustable rod unit. Gorgeous bright, glossy red with a looping maple body. And the Neo-Classic fingerboard in satin ebony. The shoulder strap was crafted of beautifully carved saddle leather. The metal components are all gold-plated.

By 1958 Gretsch company had kicked their developing innovations into high gear. The Project-0-sonic Sterso wiring, along with humbucking FilterTron pickups (designed to lesson electronic humming) were debuted. The burnished Country Gentlemen also debuted this year, and was the costliest and most superior guitar available.

In 1962 Gretsch changed the model's design radically making it with a double cutaway hollowbody design with fake f-holes. Chet Atkins was the one who thought of the false f-holes, which were thought to keep the tone as pure as possible, while also lowering the amount of feedback.

As they released the double cutaway Electrontone hollowboy Gretsch put themselves right where they belonged after a solid ten years of guitar innovation, on and even plane with Gibson and the like. Gibson had invented the double cutaway in 1958 and now Gretsch was poised to go head to head with them as they pursued the greater share of the market.

In 1967, Chet Atkin's Nashville Gretsch 6120 model was introduced, and had a gold-plated headstock with ebony Gretsch script on the pickguard.

The modern Gretsch 6120 is produced in a number of different distinct signature models such as Brian Setzer and a Reverend Horton Heat signatures and reproductions of the original Chet Atkins Hollowbody.

These newer Gretsch 6120 models are equipped with superior electronics and fittings. By purchasing a 6120 you will be ensured of a superior instrument that will provide you with excellent quality.

The latest reissue of the Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body guitar features a sixteen inch wide fingerboard of ebony with trademark Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays, and a rock maple neck. The full hollow body is two and a half inches deep. This reincarnation includes two High Sensitivity FilterTron pickupsGrover Rotomatic machine heads, the exclusive Gretsch Adjusto-Matic bridge and a Bigsby B6G vibrato tailpiece. The color selection includes Black, Blue Burst an Deep Orange stain.

Let Your Spirit Soar And Play An Air Guitar!

We live in a left brain world. What does this mean? Well, in a nutshell, the human brain is split down the middle into two halves. There are only small bridges connecting the halves, so they act virtually independently.

The left brain is the one that houses the speech and language centers. We have become so conditioned to rely on speech, logic and other left brain functions that many of us are not even able to easily access the right brain except in our dreams. We even think in words, constantly engaging in an inner dialog with nobody but oneself!

The right brain is where are emotions and imagination express themselves. We have been conditioned by our society to predominantly use only our left brains and many psychologists believe that it is important for us to break out of that habit by consciously learning to use our imagination. Learning to play air guitar is a great way to do that. Learning to use your right brain is like taking off a heavy black helmet that has been keeping you captive in your left brain's speech and logic centers.

If you choose, you can use something else for your imaginative journey, but for this example, we will choose music. Imagine you just picked up a beautiful new Dreadnought acoustic guitar. As long as your choice of media is not language-based, anything will do.

If you like, go into an imaginary guitar store and choose another brand, like a Takamine acoustic guitar. We're not trying to promote a particular brand, here. The idea is to choose an instrument that you can identify with to use as your air guitar. Once you have chosen it, feel it in your hands and look at how beautiful it is. Now start strumming on your imaginary guitar. See what comes into your head. It may be a favorite riff or you might even find yourself playing your very own original composition.

Try to hear the music playing in your mind. If you can, you are doing well! Your right brain has been activated. Before long, you will probably find the images and music fading and being replaced with words. You have used your left brain only for so long that it is going to try and take over just by habit. A good way to prolong your right brain journey is to fill in the experience by seeing yourself standing in front of an audience and playing for them.

If you have been successful in your imaginary exercise, you will feel refreshed and enlivened after you open your eyes. The right brain is limitless. Give it a chance to speak to you and you will be astounded by what a change it can make in your life!

Make Your Beats - Getting Started

Whether you're doing hip hop or soul, the surest way to establishing your name in the music industry continues to be the same: you should make your beats along with maintaining your own brand of music.

Reasonably, it can be quiet daunting to think about creating your own beats. Still, you must do your best to see this as a challenge rather than allowing it to discourage you from pursuing your dreams.

Make Your Beats Count…Start by Mastering Your Genre

Of course, don't take this advice to the extreme and challenge yourself into developing a totally new genre. While it's possible, you might need to expand your repertoire a bit first. At the same time, it's okay to devote your time improving your skills and widening your understanding of your chosen genre. Go ahead and dive into your friends' works and see if that motivates you into forming your own music beats greater than before.

Dedicating your time to excel in your genre means you're already ahead of other debuting music artists as well as boosting your abilities as a musician.

One nice thing about the music industry these days is the improved availability to the needed equipment for enthusiastic musicians like you. Nowadays, you don't need to spend a huge amount of cash just to afford the technology for making your own beats.

Making the beat for your own music requires three main components: midi drums, audio loops, and bass line. These components are applicable to all kinds of music so it's imperative that you understand how they work and what they can contribute to your music.

A song's bass line is its underlying frame. It consists of a set of music beats or notes that will be played from the beginning to end and which all other elements of the song would have to work with in order to keep a clear sense of harmony.

You can devote as much time as you want improving your bass line. If your bass line won't work, the rest of the track won't work either.

The next component you have to focus on is the audio loop. This is a common favorite among rap & hip hop creators. They are usually used for adjusting your music's primary theme or mood. To produce one, just mix a collection of notes from musical instruments or any other source of sound. With audio loops, playing and experimenting can be done freely until you hit upon the perfect set of music beats.

And lastly, you have to create midi drum patterns which go well with the rest of the piece. You can make use of only one set or pattern of notes or merge assorted sets. Anything can be done as long as it boosts rather than detracts from your work.

But sometimes, midi drum patterns aren't a pattern at all. But instead, they are made up of a diverse set of beats and played as repeating loops and acting as something related to a secondary tier of music tune or beat.

To summarize: in making your beats, start with forming a forceful bass line to act as your music's integral part then solidifying it with fully-developed audio loops and one or a number of midi drum patterns.

Are you geared up to make your beats? Then don't let anything keep you from producing cool music for the world to hear.

Organizing An Evening With Friends.

This year you are in charge of planning the annual reunion of all of your childhood friends. You have all grown up together, now are scattered all over the map. Once a year you get one afternoon to walk down memory lane and get caught up on each other's lives. It does not have to be perfect, just something that you call all enjoy.

Eating somehow always manages to be the central item to any gathering, no matter the purpose. If this will be during the day then you need to think about what will be good for brunch, or lunch, whichever fits the bill better. Later in the day will lead you to consider dinner. No matter what time of day it is you will have to plan for deserts or snacks.

Should you decide on holding this at a restaurant then the menu really takes care of itself. If you plan on spending several hours a restaurant may not be the most practical choice. A clubhouse would be ideal if you can find one available at the right time. Your own home would be perfect provided that you have the space to accommodate your friends. The dreadnought acoustic guitar on the wall will spark plenty of conversation.

As you are trying to plan activities you should enlist the help of your friends. Find out if the Ibanez acoustic electric guitar will be making the trip as well. All of you may be in an afternoon full of music and entertainment at no extra cost.

Other activities that you can plan for include trivia games. If all of you were in the habit of going to movies together as kids, then consider a trivia game that focuses on cinema knowledge. Dictionary games and other party games are abundant in stores. Take a trip there and see what strikes you as being well suited to your group.

Leave out a couple of picture albums and see where the conversation goes. You can all laugh and remember the pranks you got away with, and the stunts that you did not get away with. The brown boots that went all over and got worn all year around are sure spark a heated conversation.

It does not take much planning for this sort of gathering. The fact is that all you are really going to care about is the opportunity to see each other and spend time together again. You do not need a convention all, just a cozy space that you can all be comfortable in.

Guitars for Serious Performers - Gretsch Comes Of Age

In the late autumn of 2002, Fender and Gretsch came to an agreement that saw marketing, production and distribution of Gretsch guitars fall under Fender's umbrella. (Gretsch still owns Gretsch Guitars)

One of Fender's initial decisions was to improve production and components so that they were both more inline with the classic era practices. A great move. The headstocks and bodies were now to be made as they were in the vintage era, as were the hollow body designs - 3 ply instead of 5. TV Jones, the pickup guy, was asked to redesign the Filtertron pickups to make them sound more vintage. The duo jets were to be rechambered to a high degree, again more vintage, and the Brian Setzer models were to include the trestle bracing of the late fifties/early sixties period.

Since then Fender & Gretsch have produced a huge range of vintage Gretsch models which have been applauded by guitar players and collectors alike. Although a debatable point, many feel that this era of Gretsch guitars offers the best quality and production values ever seen from Gretsch guitars. I'm inclined to agree. And they have the price tag to match.

The mid range Gretsches which only 5 years ago had cheapo bolted on necks and questionable humbucking pickups have significantly improved in recent years. In particular, the hollowbodies of the Electromatic range have been well improved. The Gretsch 5120, a Gretsch 6120 inspired single cutaway model has surprisingly become the best selling Gretsch guitar ever with it's much improved electrics and craftmanship.

Unlike 10 years ago, these days a Gretsch 5120 is a quality guitar worth it's price tag and I'd gladly be the owner of one.

Indeed, if I didn't already have a nice green Gretsch (two-tone smoke green!) from 1962 I would almost certainly have a close look at the Gretsch 5120. TWANGTASTIC! guitars. I tried one out for an extended period of time the other day (thanks Dave ;)) and it truly was a great feeling.

The fretboard was silky smooth due to the thumbnail markers and the dual pickups were twangy and deep.

This is a fully professional grade guitar so don't be put off by the quite (by Gretsch standards) low price.

New jersey Layout Tradition Surprise - Forex Megadroid

Granting I'm born the following, I used to be *not* raised right here. My parents fundamentally ran away from residence, even though they were both adults. Mom told dad to go as far west because land went, then cease.I bear in mind some of my early living the following, but not a good deal. My 1st set of memories that essentially comply with a chain of them is in Cleveland. Not WV, but not far from and we didn't stay lengthy. There I received introduced to tornadoes and floods.CA doesn't have tornadoes often, and I only vaguely recall one particular flood, immediately after a downpour, when I saw a VW bug floating down the street. The just one in Ohio was an completely diverse animal.

When you're six, and uninitiated, the events weren't that scary. There is a thunderstorm, then an almighty racket and my mother's encounter went pale. Shortly right after that, the spouse and children that lived above us in the two story duplex came straight down (with a bunch of water) and explained that this roof had arrive away the house.Getting a kid, I used to be fascinated by their candles and candle holders…cola bottles.

How You Can Easily Write A Song

The thought of writing a great song may seem like an impossible task, but it really isn't. Sure, some musicians out there constantly leave us speechless, but it's all a matter of hard word and trial and error. But to get you started, there a few things to remember when constructing your first song.

There is no wrong place for your song to come from. Some people having an important message they want to express lyrically, while others just want to display a catchy melody. Many songs are beat driven and use rhythm and tempo as a basis. Whatever the method, there are a few tips to consider.

If you've come up with a catchy chord progression on your dreadnought acoustic guitar then that could be the foundation of your song. If you're able to place an nice vocal melody over top, then you've got yourself a chorus. A lot of songwriters prefer coming up with the chorus first before writing the rest.

Lyrics are tough for some, while other thrive on them. Just remember that the most memorable lyrics are ones that are unique. Although many songs have great melodies which make up for predictable lyrics, there's no reason to settle. Grab a set of scrapbooking papers and write away. Even if you don't have deep lyrics, if there is a phrase or two that no one has ever heard, people will remember your song.

A great beat is what drives many a song. Even if you've set out to write a folk tune on your Takamine acoustic guitar, you're still gonna need a rhythm to strum along too. Decide what works best with the melody and with your lyrics. If you have minor chords and sad lyrics, perhaps a slower tempo would work. Yet, speeding it up would turn into into an angry sounding song which may be what you want.

The most important piece of advice is to never underestimate your audience. Although there are no set ways to go about this, just try think what you wouldn't want to hear. If you your songs starts to sound predictable then change it around. If you've noticed it, then others are bound to as well.

You see, it's really a simple process, songwriting. It doesn't matter the order, but always consider melody, lyrics, beat, and originality when writing your hit. Different pieces vary and some aspects may be more important than others. That's up to you. The world is at your finger tips.
